Afrobeats

Hey, I'm Osasu and my favorite genre is Afrobeats. Afrobeats is an upbeat, vibrant music genre that originated in West Africa, particularly Nigeria and Ghana, during the late 20th century. It blends traditional African rhythms with elements of jazz, funk, highlife, and hip-hop.

    Rhythm and Blues

    I'm Calvin and my favorite genre of music is Rhythm and Blues specifically contemporary Rhythm and Blues (1970s to now), often abbrieviated as RnB. When I started learning piano in my youth, I really enjoyed playing and hearing blues, RnB and soul chord progressions.

    History - This genre originated in the African-American community in the 1940s and drew influence from other genres like jump blues, swing, soul, gospel, boogie and jazz.

    My name is Mandy and my favorite genre is Funk. Funk is a music genre that originated from African American communities in the 1960s. Funk blends together the elements of jazz, soul, and RnB. It is characterized by groovy basslines, syncopayted drum patterns, and a strong empathasis on rhythm.

    Hi, I'm Giselle, one of my favorite genre's of music is Cumbia. There are many different styles of Cumbia. It is originally claimed to be from Columbia. However many other countries have their own style. It is considered to be Rhythym/folk music of latin america. It has elements from Indigenous and african music traditions.
